Our Journey on Scolamanzi II

Delayed delivery of Scolamanzi II to Seattle

3 March 2015

Chinese New Year has passed and South Coast Marine started working today. Scolamanzi has a few minor items still to finish before she is shipped to Seattle, WA. Our biggest concern is that we still do not have a ship booked. For the past 12 months there have been a labour dispute at all American west coast ports. This has led to major shipping backlogs worldwide. The dispute was settled last week and we hope she will be loaded later in March, to arrive in Seattle during the second half of April. We are very happy with how our project has turned out so far. Judging by the latest photos from the yard she looks great! It has been 26 months since we signed the Purchase Agreement with PAE, in December 2012, to build N60 hull number 63. Since the hull layup started in September 2013, I visited the yard on 6 occasions and Henriette joined me for 2 visits. These were great experiences and we gained a lot of knowledge and insight into Nordhavn boats and our boat specifically. I have to thank and mention the support that we received from Nordhavn staff, especially Mike Jensen, our project manager and Peter Devers, the Nordhavn agent in Australia as well as Philippa behind the scenes. We have put a selection of build pictures on the blog for those that are interested. I have thousands more for those really interested. As you can well imagine we can’t wait to get on board ASAP. Unfortunately she has a commissioning process to complete during which time all systems are checked and tested to ensure all is working as it should. During this time floor and window coverings need to be selected and fitted, soft goods chosen and made, appliances sourced etc. etc. Hopefully most of this will be done by end of May so we can get out and start using the boat and enjoy the Pacific North West.
