Heading Back to Elliott Bay Marina for the last preparations

It is time to go and get ready for the first of hopefully many of our journeys on Scolamanzi II.

I am on my way with still a thousand things to do and get before the Captain joins me in 10 days time! (Including travelling to Vancouver to see an old friend and buy a Thermomix for the boat – they are not readily available in the US and way more expensive if you do find one!)

After a lovely weekend in Brisbane celebrating Johann’s 60th birthday and spending time with family, I now have to take on the daunting task of managing 3 wheeled bags and a handbag around airports and stations and find my way around LA airport – one of the most dysfunctional airports I have been on! The long walk from the international airport to domestic is just a slog! Buses are running but you often will miss a flight if you have to wait 20 or 30 min for the bus! Then to find my way around Seattle airport, trains, buses and taxi’s will be mission no 2! I love travelling … but hardly ever enjoy doing it on my own!

Anyway .. here I come! The big task ahead of me is just another wonderful challenge that will enrich my life! (* said she with a shiver in her voice …)

Getting ready is one thing (sourcing, cooking, provisioning etc)… but getting to know the mechanics, systems and electronics of this big boat is a totally different kettle of fish! But then again… I will not be the first and certainly not the last girl to learn the ropes around a Nordhavn60! 🙂
