We left early the next morning to go with the tide into the busy Vancouver Harbour. For old time sake we decided to splash out and book into Coal Harbour Marina in downtown Vancouver. It did not disappoint! We had a fantastic view of the high-rises and waterfront all around us. Our little folding bikes earned their keep here as there are bike paths all thru the city. We even cycled all round Stanley Park to take in all the superb city views as well as West Vancouver nestled against the mountainside.

Stanley park is an enormous public park covering the whole peninsula. What a lovely route to cycle or walk.

Upon entering the marina, we were delighted to receive a Facebook welcome from James on Pendana. They have been in in the same marina for a while with a spot where he can monitor who comes and goes. Especially Nordhavns. We really enjoyed meeting up with them again and spending some time together. They are such an inspiring family who are achieving what others are only dreaming about.

One of the reasons for our visit to Vancouver was to scope out “Scolamanzi 3”. So the next day with our rental car we set out to Langley to have a firsthand view at the range of Tiffin Motorhomes on display at the local RV dealer. The plan is for the next few years we want to do some land based travelling thru-out North America and Mexico. We were particularly impressed with the Tiffin Allegro Red bus which is a Class A diesel pusher, with all the bells and whistles you would need, for independent living. So after a day of dreaming we headed back to Scolamanzi. That evening Henriette prepared a very tasty paella for our dinner with guests. Greatly enjoyed by all.

The next morning, we left Vancouver with a heavy heart but excited by the fact we will be back next year. We have really come to like Canadians and especially BC. We feel at home here. Tonight will be our last night on Scolamanzi at anchor. We crossed the Strait of Georgia heading for Active Pass at slack water as the current is very strong any other time. Our choice was Diver Bay on Prevost Island. A quiet, pretty and uninhabited spot was just the right choice for saying goodbye.

Early on the 15/9/2016 it was again all business to get to Van Isl Marina, Sidney where she will stay for the winter and for us to complete our tasks before heading back to Australia.

Rock balancing is an indeed an art … and  so is chasing a dream
