Dixon Entrance on to Prince Rupert:

Craig and South-West side of Prince of Wales Island

Nichols Bay to Prince Rupert crossing Dixon Entrance

27th-28th August 2016

We started early morning with clear skies at sunrise. Shortly after it became foggy with about 100 meters visibility most of the way across Dixon Entrance. As we got closer to Prince Rupert the fog lifted giving us clear blue skies and very light winds.

We had a pleasant crossing after the 2-3 meter swells (luckily from the stern) have settled down. We could see whales blow everywhere, probably feeding on schools of herring in Dixon Entrance. Some were Fin wales and we even thought to have seen a Minkie wale.

After clearing in at customs’ dock, we took a berth at the new Cow Bay Marina. It was clear by now that we will only be able to leave PR on Monday. Saturday became a lazy sunny day, visiting the brewery and updating blogs. The next day was back to the normal. Rain and more rain. Sunday will be recorded as our last grocery shopping day till the end of this season.  We mainly stocked up on fruit and veggies. Time is few and stocks needs to be depleted which gave me a good enough reason to cook a few meals to freeze for later use.
